Queen For A Day
28 May 2009
Today, I’m 40 years old. I woke up and laid there for a minute thinking about how I wanted to start my day…I don’t get many days off from a job I can’t stand. I decided to go on an easy morning run in the neighborhood across the street, what better way to start the day, right? I pulled my hair back, grabbed my lip gloss (can’t run without it), my sun glasses, my MP3, put on my shoes and hit the road. A ¼ mile into it, I’m thinking how great I am….I’m 40, I’m in better than shape than I was when I turned 30 and I’m running! Well, one college age girl running in hot pink, tight shorts with her thong sticking out ruined all those wonderful, self motivating thoughts. I’ve been running in the same neighborhood for 6 years and I’ve never seen this girl before and I sure hope Mr Xctmnt doesn’t see her! I tell myself, 20 years and two kids from now, she’ll look just like me…at least I hope so.Â
Â
A mile and ½ into the run, she’s still out there with me and I’m ready to quit. How fitting that ELO’s “Don’t Let Me Down†comes on my MP3! So, I stuck to the plan and I ran 2 ½ miles then came home and ate a Dove Dark Chocolate bar (thank you Paul) and drank a Diet Dr Pepper. Hey, I said the reason I run is because I love dark chocolate.  Perhaps that wasn’t the best thing to do after running with Miss Hot Pants but it made me feel better!
Â
What did I get for my birthday? A few dvds, a few candles, some ferns, a magnolia tree, a shirt that says “does this shirt make my butt look fast?â€, a hammock and a set of golf clubs (thank you again Paul). And as I sit here and type this, thinking about my great day, I realize I got a hammock and golf clubs for birthday…I’m now middle aged and I’m turning into my GRANDFATHER!Â
Thank you Tim for announcing to the world that my birthday was today. So much for keeping it on the down low!Â
